Brooks was born in London on February 23, 1969. He grew up in Brighton, a city on the south coast of England. Brooks started drawing and painting at a very young age and received his first freelance commissions in his early teens. He studied graphic design at St. Martin’s College London where he won Vogue Sotheby’s Cecil Beaton Award for fashion illustration in 1992. Later he started working regularly for the British Vogue. As he traveled a lot, he kept track of his experiences in wonderful travel journals. Travel has been a persistent theme in his artworks and his adventures continue to inspire his vector artworks.

Jason Brooks later got a Master of Arts degree in illustration at the Royal College of Art. He did a series of assignments drawing at the fashion shows in Paris for The Independent Newspaper. Since then Brooks has done fashion series of the shows in New York for Visionaire and London Fashion Week for Elle. His artworks were chosen as visual identity for record labels, most remarkably for Hedkandi, which achieved sales of over 6 million albums featuring his famous vector girl artworks.
